Heineken & the F1 fan experience
On the billboards high above a Formula 1 track, there is a slogan that has become a common sight at venues around the world. It reads: ‘When You Drive, Never Drink.’ The campaign started back in 2017 when Heineken launched its global partnership with Formula 1. The marketing campaign is the latest chapter in Heineken’s long-term commitment to encourage responsible drinking and in the past few seasons, the drinks manufacturer has opened bars within the F1 paddock for guests to enjoy its regular and zero alcohol beers.
Heineken continues its partnership with F1 into 2020 and was recently announced as the Official Beer of the first-ever Formula 1 VinFast Vietnam Grand Prix that will take place on the streets of Hanoi from April 3-5, 2020. As well as world-class racing, the weekend of the Grand Prix will also feature entertainment offerings around the track in association with Heineken.
The ‘When You Drive, Never Drink’ launch coincided with a TV commercial featuring the legendary three-time world champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, who reinforced the view that when you’re behind the wheel, abstinence is the only option.
In recent years Formula 1 has strived to make the off-track spectacle just as memorable for the fans attending the event, so the race-going spectator enjoys an unforgettable weekend experience. The presence of Fan Zones, Meet ‘n’ Greets, autograph sessions with drivers, the opportunity to participate in exciting activities such as tyre changing challenges and to test your skills in the world of Esports on driving simulators all make-up the visitor experience.
The Formula 1 VinFast Vietnam Grand Prix 2020 will also feature live music events, DJs and a three-day food festival to experience Vietnamese culture and cuisines from South East Asia - to be enjoyed, of course, with a chilled glass of Heineken.
